Getting Started with CastBuddy
CastBuddy is a powerful Chrome extension that makes it easy to discover and cast videos from any website to your Chromecast or Google TV
The Castbuddy website complements the Castbuddy Chrome extension. To enable its functionality, first install the extension from the Chrome web store.

Discovering Videos

CastBuddy automatically scans pages as you browse. If videos don't appear immediately, try refreshing the page or waiting a few seconds for the scan to complete.
Casting Videos to Your TV


Once a video starts playing on your TV, you can close the browser tab or even shut down your computer. The video will continue playing on your TV.
Controlling Playback

- Play/Pause: Toggle playback of the current video
- Seek: Jump to a specific point in the video using the progress bar
- Volume: Adjust the volume of your Cast device
- Stop Casting: End the current casting session
If player controls are missing when the video starts, refresh your browser using Ctrl+R (or CMD+R on Mac).

CastBuddy works with most standard video formats and players, but some websites use custom or protected video players that may not be detectable. In these cases, you can try:
- Refreshing the page and waiting for the scan to complete
- Right-clicking on the video and looking for a "Copy video URL" option
- Using the "Add Video" feature to manually enter the video URL
CastBuddy works with any Google Cast-compatible device, including:
- Chromecast devices
- Google TV devices
- Android TV devices with Chromecast built-in
- Smart displays like Google Nest Hub
- Smart speakers with displays
The video quality depends on several factors:
- The original quality of the video source
- Your internet connection speed
- The capabilities of your Cast device
CastBuddy attempts to cast at the highest quality available, but some websites may limit the quality of their videos when casting.
